Smokers are Switching from Cigarettes to Cheaper Cigars

Glenn · Aug 6, 2012 · Leave a Comment

Yesterday an Article in the New York Times highlighted a new A CDC report which verifies that price does matter to tobacco users.

The 2009 federal excise tax was not levied at the same rate across tobacco products.

As a result, smokers are shifting from more heavily taxed products to less expensive ones: from cigarettes and roll your own loose tobacco to pipe tobacco and large cigars.

If you’re a healthcare provider and would like information about counseling tobacco users who are using products other than cigarettes, you can visit the resources section of our Tobacco page or contact us at 518-897-5981
