Law Bans Sale of E-Cigarettes to Minors

Glenn · Sep 11, 2012 · Leave a Comment

Earlier this month, Governor Cuomo signed a law prohibiting the sale of electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) to youth.  Beginning January 1, 2013, individuals will have to be at least 18 years old to purchase them.

E-cigarettes are becoming more and more popular in stores everywhere.  An e-cigarette is a battery powered device to which you attach a cartridge (sold separately) which then delivers varying amounts of nicotine.   Instead of inhaling nicotine in tobacco smoke, e-cigarette users inhale a nicotine vaporized solution.  E-cigarettes can be the vehicle for nicotine addiction and lead youth to cigarettes and other  tobacco products.  Currently, these products are available to anyone of any age in New York State.
