Last week, Governor Cuomo signed into law a bill which will ban tobacco use on or within 15 feet of hospital or nursing home owned property. The purpose of the law is to keep all traces of toxic tobacco smoke away from patients and visitors to healthcare facilities. Many of our northcountry hospitals and clinics already have smokefree policies but this will make the rules and enforcement uniform across the state.
