At the North Country Healthy Heart Network, we work to build foundations for healthier communities. A key component of our work are the community champions we partner with across the region — we can’t create systems change without these dedicated individuals.
Brushton-Moira Central School District Superintendent Donna Andre retired at the end of the 2017-18 school year, leaving behind a legacy of championing wellness initiatives that have benefited faculty, staff, and students.
Andre has been a leader and champion for policies that improve health for the entire school community. She participated on the school’s Wellness Committee, offered yoga sessions during staff wellness days, and led by example, providing nutritious snacks during meetings and speaking frequently with staff and students about ways she stays active during her free time. Andre brought creative insights about wellness to the table every day, and truly cares about the whole person when it comes to their health and general well-being.
The healthiest schools are made possible by strong administrative support and leadership. We thank Andre for the passion and commitment she brought to her school community, and wish her the best of luck as she begins the next chapter of her life.
