Getting kids outdoors and active in winter can be tough — thanks to some new sleds at St. Regis Falls Central School, it’s now a little easier.
Funding from the North Country Healthy Heat Network’s Creating Healthy Schools and Communities program helped purchase sleds that classrooms can sign out as an alternative to traditional food-based rewards.
“It’s great to see the smiling faces on the kids,” said Kat Haney, the Heart Network’s CHSC school coordinator. “It’s a great way to celebrate a class achievement and make sure our kids are getting in some physical activity even in the cold weather.”
