May 6th is National Bike to School Day and the Franklin County Safe Route to School team has extended the celebration for the entire month of May. This will give more kids a chance to try walking or biking to school with the hope that some will make it a habit for the rest of the school year. Approximately 1,500 students in Malone and Saranac Lake School Districts will be encouraged to walk or bike to school throughout the month. Students who walk or bike will be eligible to receive weekly prizes. Students who live too far away from school will have the opportunity to earn prizes for walking during recess. Walker the SR2S Chicken will be making some appearances and education activities will be provided by Franklin County Traffic Safety Board to encourage, educate and protect our area students. You can learn more and follow the event through Get Out & Live North Country on Facebook and Twitter.
