Learning from each other

This fall, Heart Network staff participated in the third annual Creating Healthy Schools and Communities convening, hosted by the New York State Obesity Prevention Center for Excellence.

This year’s theme, “Championing Change,” highlighted the work of CHSC partners across the state, both the successes and the challenges.

“This was our third time participating,” said Kat Haney, Heart Network program coordinator. “This year featured field trips to sites around the city of Buffalo where we could see CHSC projects firsthand.”

Heart Network staff explored best practices on Complete Streets policies from nationally renowned experts like Justin Booth (pictured above) and heard from partners about plans and strategies for strengthening local food systems and policies.
