The National Complete Streets Coalition recently released their “Best Complete Streets Policies of 2012” guide. According the Complete Streets Coalition, there are now 488 complete streets policies nationally and 27 states have passed Complete Streets Laws. NY continues to be a leader in complete streets with 33 local policies as well as a State Law. Of those 33 listed policies, 3 are located in the North Country (Lewis, Malone, and Elizabethtown). In addition to those listed in the report, Essex County and the town of Westport have also passed Complete Streets Policies.
Complete Streets Continue to Progress Locally and Nationally
New Policies in 2012 – New York saw a number of new policies, including at least 7 in Northeastern NY.
