Learning about Farm to School

Glenn · Nov 4, 2014 · Leave a Comment

Adirondack Farm to School Initiative (which the Heart Network is a member of) hosted staff development training for school cafeteria staff and teachers on October 24th at the Wild Center.  Over 60 participants attended the event where they learned about Farm to School activities for the classroom, cafeteria, and school gardens.  Ruth Pino, Director of the ADK Farm to School Initiative, provided an overview of how the Initiative formed and what has been accomplished to date.  Dr. Dell’Amore did a cooking demonstration while providing tips for getting students to try new foods.  Members of the ADK Farm to School Initiative facilitated workshops on procurement in the cafeteria for food service staff and on school gardens and classroom curriculum for teaching staff.
