Bombay General, operated by Bob Andrews and his wife in Bombay, NY, is one of six convenience stores currently participating in the Healthy Heart Network’s Fit Pix Convenience Store project this year. Bombay General’s commitment to offering an assortment of nutritious items supports work being done in the local schools to promote healthier eating. These efforts are all part of the Heart Network’s Creating Health Schools and Communities grant.
Bob’s excitement about the program is evident in his center table display of Fit Pix grab-n-go snacks. He also created a Fit Pix deli menu to include a variety of nutritious items that can be combined to create a very affordable “Fit Pix Meal Trio” for just $5.75. Proof that members of the community are interested and paying attention? The day Bob set up his Fit Pix snack table, a customer took a picture of his impressive display to show his wife. She just happens to be a health teacher at one of the Salmon River schools!
