May 27th marked the last day in the office for the North Country Healthy Heart Network’s Executive Director, Margot Gold. The Heart Network staff and Board of Directors recognized Margot’s 16 years of service as Executive Director at a retirement party held in Saranac Lake. Margot was Executive Director from the Networks’ inception in 2000 with a one-year start up grant from the Fannie E. Rippel Foundation; a grant secured by Carthage Area Hospital’s Administrator, Walter Becker.
Under Margot’s leadership the organization has had continuous funding, primarily from the NYS Department of Health, since 2001. During her tenure and with a dynamic staff, the Heart Network established itself as a leader in developing partnerships to facilitate sustainable changes in policy, practice and projects that increase opportunities for health enhancing behaviors by people of all ages and abilities.
Gold said she was blessed to have the opportunity to work and learn from current and past staff and Board members. She is extremely proud of the vitality of the organization and predicts it will continue to develop and thrive for years to come. She was visibly touched by the comments made by the Heart Network’s long standing Program Manager, Jamie Konkoski, on behalf of the staff and Board.
